Hi, my name is Tammy and I am new to the forum. I have my surgery in 17 days and can't wait! I am having the Sleeve procedure and have a lot of weight to lose. Right now I am having 2 protein shakes a day and have to go to 3 a day very soon. I have been on these shakes for a month already and am soooooo tired of them. I don't know how I am going to make it on 3 a day when I am having trouble with 2. I have to lose some weight before I can have the surgery, so I know I have to but it is so hard.

Hi Tammy, Welcome. I was on them for a week and it was very difficult, have you tried them blende with ice like a smoothie or mixed with milk, EAS makes a really good one that is really thick, also just start trying different kinds and flavors so you don't get bored and see if you can mix fruit with them in the blender that will help fill you up. Hang in there it will pay off. Tom

Hi Tammy, I just had my roux-en-Y surgery on Monday, and I currently have to choke down 3 protein drinks per day also. Look forward to when I can add more protein food, and cut down on the drinks. Hang in there, you are not alone. :)

Tammy-Most of us became tired with protein shakes but it's one of those necessary evils. Try different brands and flavors for some variety. Add some decaf instant coffee to a vanilla or chocolate shake to make it taste better (that is if you like coffee). Before you know it your surgery will be over and you will breeze through your different phases of meal plans and be eating "normal" but healthy foods :) The important thing is to follow the direction of your bariatric team from your pre and post surgery meal plans to your after care.

Hi Tammy! Glad to have a fellow Texan here with me. What area are you from?? I bought some protein drink mixes from New Life Bariatric, the cappuccino flavor is pretty good, the orange-cicle is ok, seems a little thick and sweet for me though.

thanks, everyone for you kind words of encouragement. I do have 5 different flavors that I keep mixing and trying different things with. They are not bad tasting, just tired of them. I haven't tried with ice yet, will have to do that soon. I'm not a coffee person, just love the smell of it though. twomas: I am was adding milk for a while but it doesn't taste that different with water and just adds more calories, so I stopped. Supparamarq and Pat99: I also can't wait to have normal foods and it will be worth it in the future. NanaG67: I am in So. TX, Corpus Christi. Where is Covington?

I just keep telling myself, Nothing is impossible until you do it.
Thanks again for the nice welcome. Hope to talk to you all more in the near future. Just counting down the days for the big day.

Tammy, Covington is half way between Waco and Fort Worth. I start my liquid diet on Monday then a week till my surgery. I can't wait till then!!! Trying to get a few last minute goodies in before I have to go all liquid.
