I had the Gastric Bypass (Y) surgery back in 2001, I felt good for 4 years, but started having complications with having chest pain. After 2 years of having this problem (I did get down to 192 lbs.) I finally seen a specialist at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. And he found out that my Mitral Valve was almost closed. So in 2007, almost 6 years after having the gastric bypass surgery, I underwent open heart surgery. I was only 40 years old at that time! I now have been told that my other valve is going bad. This is not from taking diet pills, I have never taken diet pills, and its not from Rheumatic Fever either, I never had that. I have 6 other friends that have went through the same gastric bypass surgery, and they all have the same problem. If I was asked if I want to go through this again, my answer would be a firm NO! I felt better being fat, than having all the complications that have arose since having this surgery. I have more medical complications that have arose since having this surgery, I ask myself everyday "Why oh why did you go through that surgery". My question is why dont you have a thread about the complications that people have had AFTER going through the surgery???

Rezbunny:

Let me start by saying welcome. And I am sorry to hear of the troubles you've been dealing with. Other than that, your problems are way beyond what my experience can offer, other than a sympathetic ear. And I offer that gladly. I have a thirty year old son who had a sever heart attack last July. It is a major tragedy when young people have to deal with these kind life altering health issues.

Regards

PS:

I think the phrase "diet pills" might have blocked your first attempt to post here. As good a guess as any.
