Searching for a support group and found this one. I started the process for the gastric sleeve in May 2012. Many delays for one reason or another. I am now waiting for new insurance approval before getting a new date. May have to do more time with a NUT if my new insurance will not accept my last one. Very frustrating! Is this a normal process time for anyone else or am I being impatient!

hi Grammyjo I too went through a 9 month period of waiting and testing etc. I know how aggravating it is to have to wait so long, and I know you said you have to go through a new insurance co, hopefully all the test you've already done will be accepted and you'll get your surgery date a lot sooner. this site is full of people whom only want to help, they've been wonderful to me for the past year. I am happy to say I was able to have my bariatric surgery done in sept.2012. a lot of people on here have experienced insurance hang up's and rules etc. you can read through the archives and find stories very similar to yours. don't give up the surgery changes your life forever and for the good. there's nothing more rewarding than running into someone whom hasn't seen you in years and to hear them say" wow you look great" makes it worth all the aggravation and protein shakes etc. don't give up.

Hi Grammyjo, I'm in NC too. I live in Wake Forest. When I was going through the process, my insurance company changed the requirements and I had to start from scratch. All I can say is that it is worth it, so don't give up. I was almost 18 months getting everything in order. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
