I finally gave in to the trend and got an air fryer... actually it is 7 in 1, so air fryer, dehydrator, rotisserie, and some other stuff, lol. Why did I wait so long!!! You know if you have apples that are little beyond eating freshness, but not spoiled, you can sprinkle a little cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice on them and have completely fresh dried fruit (or fruit chips)! And, I made some purple potato frites to go with grilled steak last night... ZERO oil and they were crispy! I have broccoli to do roasted broccoli later this week - kale for some kale chips, and I am DEFINITELY making dried fruit!

I'm I'm not sure I fully understand what an air fryer is, and they are really expensive, but I do know from looking at the pile of rotting produce in my refrigerator, that I need a food dehydrator. I am right now in the process of tossing out 20 lb of onions and lettuce and peppers I didn't get to because I just didn't have an appetite, so they went to waste. I do have one of those heat sealer things that you can put food into and then vacuum the air out. But I don't think I have any bags, which means I don't have the very expensive strip of plastic that I'm going to end up throwing into the ocean and killing a whale. I think you understand how I feel about that!

The price of the air fryers has come down quite a bit. Mine with all those features was only around $100. I got the Instant Pot Vortex Plus. The basis is that you can get quick cooking, crispy outcome akin to fried items, but without oil or very tiny amount of oil. The dehydrator will also allow for making jerky. I am anxious to try that one as well.

Sounds like a great investment for someone like me who needs to learn to cook. Thanks for the tip.
