Nother Newbie!

Hello, My name is Amber, im 23 years old, way to young and pretty to be this big, gotta fix it lol!
I just had my 1st weigh in on the 31st, got till the end on January to drop 18 pounds to even meet the Dr. My mother had the procedure with the same dr so i already know her, tho my mother was nearly lost, they read her her final rights and everything it was terrifying, therefore I am terrified of getting this but determined not to let that fear get to me! I have started the Lean and green diet suggested by the drs office and so far so good!

Congratulations on your decision for this big step in your journey. Where will you be having it?

Carol

hi AmberJoy1988 you're gonna make it, your young and youre metabolism probably works faster than an older person like me, i'm 56. so how is your mom doing ? you mentioned she already had the surgery? has her's been a success journey so far? almost everybody I've met experienced some fear and concerns over the surgery, but now that healed are happy to have had it done. I have three kids so I was concerned if I didn't do something about my weight I wouldn't be around for them, plus tired of diabetic and a long list of medical issues. do you have a surgery date or do you have to wait til the 18 lbs are gone? I know from my own experience I had to loose 25 pounds before surgery and protein and walking helped me to get it off in time.do your best to avoid sugar and soda and it will make a big difference too.you've got your whole future ahead of you don't let anything stop you from having your chance at a healthy you. I have 19 yr old identical twins and a 30 year old son. he needs the surgery but he doesn't like to follow rules and I know he would not follow the rules of how we have to eat. my son weighs over 400 and has diabetic and a long list of other health issues too, maybe one day soon I can convince him to take the leap and get his life back, while he is young. wish I had mine done many years ago. but I am enjoying my journey now even at my age, feel younger and so much better too and have energy again, yeahhhhhhhhhhhh come back again and share your journey we are all here to support each other and help too.

Welcome, Amber! Congratulations on your decision to improve your life! The 18 lbs is very doable if you are committed. Hang in there!

yes my mother is doing great, but after 2 years the rules went out the window and candy came back so her loss is at a stand still

amber joy hi how's the weight loss so far? Don't get discouraged you can do this. Have you been to any support group meetings? I got to go to one before i had the surgery and meet people who have already had it done and hear there stories and see the real results in person, made a big impact on me. I too am like your mom i still like candy have always loved candy. I walk past the candy aisle in the store and tell myself "i hate candy" because my love of candy is what put me in the shape i'm in. There are alot of great sugar free hard candies and chocolates too. I chew sugar free gum and i have to keep the wrapper close by to remind myself i cannot swallow the gum cause it could close up the opening in my pouch.once you go to dr on 31st is that when they will tell you when you can have your surgery? Have they had you do any other testing that is pre-required before surgery?hang in there your day is comming soon. Donna
