OMG! The pain in my knees is gone?!

Wait a minute now! I have only had surgery a couple of weeks ago and have not dropped a significant amount of weight so I was bowled over when I went down some steps today. I was braced like I usually am ready for the discomfort…and there was none! OMG! Is this because I haven’t had sugar? I knew it caused inflammation but to have it change this quickly? I’m happy but also mad at myself that it was ME (and what I was putting in my mouth) causing the pain. Having mixed emotions right now.

big high five Did you perhaps have gout? I suspect that big dietary changes could have that effect.

That gives me something more to look forward to! Every morning I have to go down the stairs sideways and one step at a time with both feet.
Right?! I had my arms on both walls ready to do that one stair thing…so I took the first step and was like…wait, what’s happening? I went down and up normally. I couldn’t believe it, so I was still kinda braced ready for pain.

That's great! I need both of my knees replaced; since gastric bypass surgery 12/17/21 my knees have gotten worse. I have days were I can barely walk. Hopefully, the more weight I lose they will start feeling better.

I think if you are in need of knee replacements, losing the weight isn't going to change that. It may make it less painful but since you are most likely bone on bone without any cartilage to cushion it, it may not make a difference to lose the weight.

I had knee replacements 17 years ago, so I a little about this and how painful it can be. So for me losing the weight and leg pain didn't have anything to do with my knees specifically but just overall less stress on my feet, ankles, etc.

Knee pain is awful. It even hurts when you are lying down with no pressure on it. I hope you are able to have knee replacement surgery. It made a world of difference for me and I totally recommend it.
