Hi everyone,
So I'm new to the group an looking for some help and input from others. I am currently almost 7 weeks post-op VSG (10/13/16). I have lost 35 pounds so far which is great but some of it is not for good reasons. The first two weeks I was doing great aside from the usual discomfort of the surgery and then the issues started. I was having pain in the middle of my rib cage almost like a heart attack and severe pain in the abdomen and shoulder. I was hospitalized and diagnosed with pancreatitis, gastritis and a new ulcer for 5 days at 4 weeks post-op. I spent 4 days in the hospital and received fluids, anti-nausea meds and IV pain meds. I followed up with my surgeon and we planned on another visit in a month with increased Protonix and Carafate in the mean time. Last week at 6 weeks post-op I was hospitalized again with what they think were kidney stones on my X-ray and ultrasound but couldn't be confirmed by contrast MRI, I also had a endoscopy to see how my gastritis is. I was still in severe pain which my doctor thought at first was still from the pancreatitis, severe upper right abdomen and upper right back pain with around my rib cage with severe heart burn, nausea and I was vomiting from anything I tried to eat or even drink. So I just spent another 4 days in the hospital and I am being sent to see a bariatric specialist in NYC. My surgeon doesn't want to just remove my gallbladder without it being a last resort because my tests cant confirm that's the issue. I also now seem to get serious low blood sugar levels but I think this is from my inability to keep food down. It was 51 in the hospital. So I am curious if anyone else has experienced these issues or similar and what was the answer. I am pretty much Murphy's Law when it comes to medical issues, if it can happen it does happen to me. I am worried that I will be prone to stones now since the surgery and I don't want to be in this situation with no for sure answer. The past few weeks have been absolute hell with the pain and issues I have been experiencing.
