Pre-op

I'm diabetic and had sleeve on Jan. 21. I still have blood sugar issues, but I think it will go down when I get on protein and off of cereals, which are carbs.
Congrats on your surgery! I'm diabetic as well. My hgb A1c was 9.3 in August, had gastric bypass on Dec 16th, and in Jan my hgb A1c was down to 6 and I'm no longer on diabetic meds (was on glipizide, Actos, and metformin). Hope you have a smooth recovery and continue to improve your diabetes and overall health!

They did my nicotine test the morning of the surgery. They did it through a blood test so that they could determine the quantity (or lack there of) of nicotine in my system. The quantity is used to help determine if you have recently quit and about how long it has been since quitting. They can also test through a urine sample but that test simply shows if nicotine is in your system as of that moment so most surgeons will do the blood test to verify nicotine levels.
