Hi everyone ,my name is Renie im a little nervous my surgery is coming up fast , i have my pre-op testing this monday and my last weigh in Dec 3 . i keep reading that you need alot of support after the surgery . i go to a support group now up here in buffalo NY but its only once a month , and i do have my fiance who tries his best to understand what im going through . im not only nervous but im very exited as well ..im 5'2" and weighed 300lbs my whole life ...well not exactly my whole life ... ever since i was about 13 and most all of my weight is carried in my belly area , which is very dangerous .. the reason for me getting the surgery is for health reasons . im a 47 yr old woman that has multiple health issures ( weight related ). well now that i told you a little about myself i hope to get some feedback on after surgery help .
thank you in advance Renie

P.S my goal weight is about 125 , i think thats resonable for my height and frame :)

Welcome to the forum Renie and I'm glad you are facing your health issues head on. In another post you mentioned your fiance likes bigger women and that you are afraid of losing him. Please involve him in this process as much as you can so he will understand how dangerous it is for you to carry so much weight and the health problems it has, and will, cost you in the future. If he's a **keeper** he'll soon come to realize that this is more than being thin. It's your life at stake.
I wish you all the best in your upcoming surgery. Stay strong.

I think the advice to involve your man with all you are going through, if he does not stick around then good riddence and great you got rid of him now instead of later but if he sticks this out, good for him and for you. Whatever happens is meant to be and you are going to be healthier with the weight off and if he does not care about that then he is NOT a keeper. Just the way it is. I do have a loving supportive spouse but there are times I think the status quo would be alright for her but she knows I am going through with this and will support me. I think some of it is fear of what if you die etc.

Hi Renie- I had my surgery on Nov 13th, I have hit a couple rough patches but so far has been happy for results: coming off my blood pressure and cholestrol meds and my blood sugar coming down to a managable level. Certainly are wonderful positives to this lifestyle change. With that being said you do need a good support group mine consists of a wonderful husband, loving mother & daughter but you need to count on number one know that you are the one that will pick you up and pull you through-guts and determination are key. And if you get down, have your 5 min pity party, deep breathe, and move onward & upward!!

I am 47 years old also and completely understand where you are, set your sight on a wonderful healthy future and rest will fall in to place. My prayers of peace and joy are with you!! God Bless:D
