Question

I have had my surgery about 12 years ago and notice that I have started to regain the weight. My question is "any suggestions to getting it back off and try keeping it off"? I'm new to the forum. a friend introduce me to this site for support.

WELCOME!!!
Sorry I can't help with your question.. I am only 4 1/2 months out from my surgery. Just wanted to say glad you are here with us.

Welcome. I am only 17 months post op and just recently reached my goal. I think this is a fear for most WLS patients. Is it possible to get in touch with your surgery group and see if you can meet with the nutritionist. If not, can you seek out a NUT on your own. I would go back to basics from when you first had your surgery. There is the 5 day pouch diet to help you kick start things. You can search for it on this site. Are you exercising at all? Do you track your food on a site such as myfitnesspal.com? Try and remember why you had the surgery in the first place. What motivates me is my physical and overall emotional health. I think it is hard to be a peace mentally if you feel you are not taking the best care of yourself that you can. You already have taken the first stop by reaching out. It is never too late to begin again.

journal your food for a week without any modifications and you will more than likely find your trouble area. The saying you can't out exercise a bad diet is so true. Once you find your week spots go a week with clean eating, meal plans ect and see the difference. Also if you are exercising try switching up your routine like if you are on a treadmill at the gym hop on the elliptical or if you walk outside change your route. If you are not exercising start doing so.

Have you heard of the "pouch test?" It is to test the condition from your RNY surgery... possibly shinks your pouch some, and most likely loose a few pounds. All you do for the test is to eat as if you just got surgery, drink 64 oz of water, vitamins, and exercising. I have not gotten to that point but thats part of some tools I got in my library for bariatric success.
