My surgeon thinks I should have bypass as I have GERD. I'm only planning a week off from my part time desk job. What are you views?

I had gastric bypass, hiatal hernia repair and partial gastrectomy. I had the surgery for GERD/2 failed Nissan fundiplications and gastro paresis rather than for weight loss. I was in surgery for 6 hours and recovery for 4 hours and was left with a temporary feeding tube for 4-6 weeks. I was in hospital for 5 days, and I’ve been at home for 2 now, and I’m still in a lot of pain. I expect to take another 5 weeks off work.
