Regret

Hello! I am struggling.... few people know about my surgery so I don't have anyone to talk with. I had the lap band for over a year and loved it. When it was removed I decided gastric surgery was my only other option. The difference between the two is night and day. I am so disappointed I have done this. I am not having complications. I do not feel sick. I just do not feel as if the weight is coming off, my eating habits are terrible, I am super tired all the time and have no energy. I am losing muscle. I feel as if I am able to eat a lot of food...I eat slow but never hit that full point even with protien. I am three months out and am down about 20 lbs from the surgery date (the other weight came off with pre surgery diet). I dont think this is a great number considering how difficult life changes I have made. I know I cant turn back but this isnt what I expected.

Have you considered liquid protein shots? I have yet to have my surgery but have been doing lots of reading. Too little protein can make you tired and affect your muscles. Do you have access to a dietician? Any support group in your area? This is great site and I am sure you will get even more info. Don't give up - life will be good again.

I am here just had surgery a few weeks ago. Keep on your diet and try to stay positive. I am depressed but I had two surgeries. Stick to the amount you are suppose to have and call your doctor and talk to him about this. Each person has different losses in pounds maybe its in inches. Or maybe you need more water. Hang in there it will be okay

Make sure you are getting in your fluids and Protein. Exercise, walk, exercise. Call your Team.

Hi UpNorthMom, don't beat yourself up over your weight loss, it is common for folks who have the band switched over to a bypass or sleeve to not lose weight as fats as they would like because your body has already become accustomed to a redused meal size so just keep that in mind. Make sure you are taking in lots of protien daily most of us try to get 60 grams at a minimum, it is directly related to our energy levels and weight loss also remember no water/fluid 45 minutes before and 30 minutes after your meal so you will feel fuller longer and the food will stay with you longer so you can absorb more protien. Keep up the good work, remember this is not a quick fix but a tool we can use to get healthy. Tom

upnorthmom- I'm sorry that you are having a hard time emotionally. You say your eating habits are terrible. What do you mean? Are you following your post-op meal plans? Are you taking your bariatric vitamins every day and exercising? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm concerned that you're not getting enough nutrition.
