Stretching stomach

It takes months to years of habitual overeating to physically stretch it out to any extent. It always stretches out a bit over time, but regardless of actual stretching, you will naturally be able to eat more as your stretch receptors in your stomach accept a bit more food over time.

Also, the stretching concern is only a concern if you are making bad food choices. Eating highly nutritious, non-processed foods low in sugar and sodium will keep you on track regardless of stretching. It all comes down to what you fill that space with, not so much about how much.

Keep in mind having a small pouch doesn't prevent overeating; if you keep eating after full you force the stomach into emptying/dumping early, effectively bypassing any "size limitations" of the pouch. You can also trigger this by drinking while eating, or too soon after eating - it literally flushes your stomach contents.

It takes a little time for your stomach fullness to synchronize to your brain which is responsible for shutting down the hunger hormone (ghrelin) telling you that you are hungry. This is why doctors tell us to take little tiny bites, to chew it relentlessly until puree'd, and then wait a minute or more between bites to give your body a chance to register the food and provide accurate feedback on if you still need more or not.

Super hard to stick with, I know. There's some great info here on this site about this.

I was told straight out of surgery not to exceed 4oz but now I am seeing where were supposed to steadily eat more and up to 8oz. I didn't get very good info on diet after the first 6 weeks. Is this true? Should we stop at a certain amount or weight, even if we don't have that full feeling?
