Oct 19th will be my day for surgery. But it will be self pay since my husbands company that he works Doesn't have it included in their policy. Found out this info this week when they submitted to insurance . Tommorow I go for my pre op class and then oct 9th I meet with surgeron. The week before surgery will have pre surgery meeting with family doc and have covid test done .

MY date is the 12th and the next two weeks are going to be crazy. Most of my pre-op face to face doctor appointments will be done by Zoom. I got lucky that the class is going to be on Zoom because of how far some of us live from the city of Orange. I do have to drive to Orange on the 8th for the covid test but I already had the virus late March.

Which city of Orange do you live in or near? Congratulations on surviving covid-19. And welcome to the group.

Try to take it easy and stay calm. Most of the group here has already experienced it. The overarching opinion is that it's not even as bad as a visit to the dentist. We have all recovered and we have had fewer pains and complaints then we have had joy and success.

Take my advice and start keeping a journal now. Journal all your feelings and all your fears and keep writing in your Journal after surgery. Then get another blank book and start researching foods with high protein. Go across the page, noting the caloric contents and the protein content and assess the vitamins and minerals in that particular food. Buy a food scale and make sure you have good measuring cups and spoons because you're going to want to have those afterwards so you can stick to the eating plan. And if you do, you may have the same success I had, losing 35 lb of first month and 25 lb the second month and then 15 pounds almost every month after that. I kept all the nutritional information I needed to know in my PDA. That just tells you that it was a long time ago that I had surgery. Nowadays, you can just keep it in your cell phone.

It's also this great FDA sites and it lists brand names and restaurants offerings as well as ordinary percentages for food to cook at home.

Here's a resource I wrote and posted to the resource section of the group: HOW TO FIND WHAT YOU NEED and then some...

I started my journey in March but I got sick and was hospitalized for 25 days. This was a big help with quitting smoking and a good start on eating healthier meals. I used every tool my dietitian gave me from a daily feeling log to a nutrition app I could log in recipes from apps like Alrecipes. I slowly curved my poor eating habits to good eating habits. I started eating food I would most likely be eating after the surgery. My body is used to protein drinks at least twice a day. I have been losing 2.8 lbs per month with limited movement. That's another story for anther time

Right now is probably the worst anxiety you'll have (from my experience). Just stay the course and acknowledge that you've researched this and are doing it for all the right reasons, and let the time move on, carrying you with it. You'll do great, but I remember this time is really hard. hang in there!
