Surgery date, January 27th

Hello everyone, hope you had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Finally got my surgery date, was hoping for 2013, but . . . . :(
So I go in January 27, meet for pre-op on January 13th. I’m sure I’ll start my “liver shrieking diet” then. The weekend of 11-12 will be last real meals for a while. Looking forward to a new me in 2014.
Any advice for “liver shrieking diet” or immediately after surgery?

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

Phase 1 was cut out all carbs, sodas, cut your meal portions in half, 3 servings per day of fresh fruit and fresh veggies.

Then on to phase 2 for 2 weeks prior to surgery, my surgeon had me on a complete liquid protein liquid diet + 1 small salad at lunch for my second phase pre surgical diet. I was allowed 4 protein shakes a day.

Call your nutritionist and see what your surgeons guideline are.

Congrats on your date. Each Dr is different when it comes to the liver shrinking diet. I had 3 weeks on liquids only presurgery, but I didn't have any problems sticking to it. I kept a picture of my grandson with me, so if I felt like I was going to fail, I would look at him and remember why I started down this road. You need to start a whole new relationship with food, it can no longer be your comforter when things are stressful, you need to look at it as fuel for your body and that is it. Start making the changes suggested by StinkerBelle and you'll be ahead of the game. Good luck and keep us posted.

CONGRATULATIONS on your surgery date!!! Good luck and best wishes for a successful weight loss journey! :)

Congratulations on setting the date. The only advice I have is do exactly what the surgeon says to do. Remember that there will be tough times but it is so worth it.

Best of luck
Oh one other things start taste testing protein shakes :)

Ok, everything has been said above.

Good luck. You are about to change your way of life forever. It is going to require discipline and support. That is why we are all here. Do not go it alone. come here often. Join a local support group. Follow your Doctor's guidelines and you will do well. Soon you will be post op 2 then 4 then 6 then 8 weeks. By this time you will have noticed a huge change in yourself; all positive. This should be enough motivation to keep on plugging.
