Surgery Dates

My wife was scheduled to have her RNY surgery on 6/1 & was bumped due to Covid I was scheduled for tomorrow. We found out that if your bumped then you go to the end of the line or close to it. My wife was rescheduled for the 27th of July. That date simply would not work because of our son’s wedding in August.

I decided to let my wife have my surgery date tomorrow. And I heeded the advice of a number of people on this site and waited to have surgery on 8/17 instead of in July. Patience is not my middle name but it is for the best. I have 2 more months to do my best with my weight I was originally supposed to have my surgery in march (damm covid). It has messed with my head somewhat but have faith I will not put on weight.

My wife is having surgery around noon can anyone give their best guess when she will be up to having a visitor? I’m well aware it can vary for different people.

Thanks,

Hopefully being a part of her Journey will help me to know what to expect.

James

Congrats for your wife tomorrow. I hope and pray all goes well for her and no pain. My hospital did not have any visitors. I did talk on the phone one time to my husband. I slept a lot so I didn't not even care and maybe was better not having him come to watch me sleep. Tell her to walk and walk some more it does help with the gas pain.

Is she having an open procedure? If so, they'll probably take her gallbladder at the same time. It's major surgery and she'll probably be in hospital 3 days.

That was my experience.

You've been so wonderful, James, as you've waited and waited.

Luckily, you'll be even more prepared when your date arrives. And as you help her, she'll learn how to care for you.

I'll be thinking of you both tomorrow.
