Surgery on 10/17-- so excited!

Hi everyone! My name is Lindsay, and I will be having the gastric sleeve on 10/17/12. I'm so excited! I'm currently on day 6 of the two week pre-surgery all liquid diet. It's going pretty well, but the shakes are giving me bad gas pains in my stomach!:( Did anyone else have this problem? Is there anything that helped with the pain?

I can't wait to explore this site more. I'd love to hear everyone's tips, tricks, and stories.

Check out my blog too! http://thejourneytohalf.blogspot.com/

I had the sleeve, but my surgeon did not require 2 week protein diet. I just had to do 1 day clear fluids. Try Gas X. A number of people on the site use it before and after surgery. They have these strips that dissolve on your tongue for after surgery. Good luck

Lindsayeliza-You may have developed lactose intolerance since your surgery. Try taking a lactase enzyme to see if that helps with the gas pains from the shakes. I use a generic brand and I also take a generic Gas-Ex at the same time. It doesn't work 100% but it does help significantly. Once you start eating more types of food you will learn what triggers gas and either avoid certain foods or take the meds to help. The good news is that the gas lessens quite a bit as time goes by but will probably not go away entirely.

Hi Lindsay, Ditto what Pat said and also if you are not used to a high protien diet that will also cause lots of gas, it could be a combination of the two. I'll have to check out your blog. Tom
