My surgery is now scheduled for August 5, 2019. It was tentative for July 22nd but had to push it back.
I will be having the RNY with hiatal hernia repair for diabetes, HBP, cholesterol, and diabetic gastroparesis.
Wow! That sounds really unhealthy.
I wish the surgery was sooner just for sanity reasons but I guess two months is not too far away with the busy summer ahead.

Oh Honey that sounds big. Hiatal hernia is pretty difficult and gastroparesis is just awful. Lowering your blood pressure, curing your diabetes, and getting down to a healthy cholesterol are kind of things that go alone with surgery oh, so you'll have those things for sure! Good luck on the gastroparesis!

Hi honey, i understand how hard it is waiting, i waited over a year and finally had surgery May 31st. I think the best advise to give you is to try and be patient. I know its difficult, but surgery day will be here before you know it. Concentrate on what the doctor and dietician advice. And be good to you!

I had RNY on April 30th for gastroparesis/GERD and a hiatal hernia repair after 2 previous failed hiatal hernia surgeries. They also took the rest of my stomach away due to a history of stomach cancer on my mothers side. It was tough, I was In hospital for 5 days and left with a feeding tube for 5 weeks after. But I’m pleased to report that I’m now back at work and feeling fabulous, and I’ve lost 25lbs to boot, even though I didn’t have the surgery for weight loss reasons. I am taking it really slowly with the eating tho, still eating mainly soft foods. Good luck with your surgery!

Wow! That sounds like that was super tough. I'm glad you are feeling better now.
Thank you for the luck.

Thank you! Sadly, the doctor said my Diabetes will probably note be cured because even though it is Type 2, I have had over 25 years. On the good side of that, hopefully I will need fewer meds for the Diabetes. Any meds that I can cut out is a reward.
