Hi all. I had RNY on 1/28/13. I have diabetes that was out of control 250-400, A1C 9.5. I was on Metformin 2000mg, Lantus 95units, and Humalog sliding 2X a day. Now I am only on Lantus 20units daily, 1000mg metformin. My sugars now are 120-140 daily. Do I have hope I will be completely off meds anytime soon. Thanks.

Well hello and congratulations on your new numbers, and yes to your answer, I had my surgery October 2012 and December 2012 I was no longer diabetic and I was out of control as you were, so yes you will be free soon I promise, that is why I had my surgery, to get off all my medications and I have accomplished that, good luck in your journey I wish you great success

Thank You SusieQ. That is the main reason for me too--I hated giving myself 3 shots a day and I just couldn't control it with diet and meds. "Thank You RNY surgery--you were my only hope" (I love Star Wars)

Well then "May the Force be with you for many more years " during my last visit to my doctors he said I added twenty years to my life by having this surgery, so keep up the good work

Welcome! We had surgery on the same day! As someone has already said, you absolutely do have hope that you will get off your insulin! Keep up the good work!
