I am in the process of getting everything requested so I can have the sleeve surgery. I am interested to see how other people take to learning the new way of living. I have started changing a lot of daily routine things that I have taken for granted my entire life and the hardest thing is the drinking with my meals. not using straws was a piece of cake but not drinking with meals is killing me. I don't know how to beat that one.

WELCOME to the Forum!

Eating without drinking is a horrible thing in my opinion too. It actually hurts my chest. Do the best you can. The reasoning for this rule, I think, is so you won't wash the food through your stomach too fast and so you won't get hungry too soon.

Good luck to you!!!

It also has to do with you will not have much capacity with your new stomach for awhile.

Over the course of a year you will see your stomach increase in size a little. But, you don't want to push it. I am a year out now. I can have some liquids with food but not much. We really don't want to take on habits that get our new stomach too stretched back to where it was before we decided to go for this surgery.

In the beginning one egg was almost too much to have at one sitting.

I now can have two eggs, a piece of bread but I do have to pause and rest a little to let things process before completing this meal.

The other thing is not to eat too fast. That is the tough one. You know when you do.

I get the burps real quick when I either eat too quickly and/or reach my capacity for a single sitting. Again, as I said before sometime half way through my 2 eggs and one piece of toast I have to pause before I continue because I am filling up and/or eating too quickly.
