what I'm eating

I did not have time for breakfast so I am eating late, after a doctor appointment and grocery shopping. I am making an effort to get both the correct amount of protein and fiber. This is almost the first time I've ever talked about fiber, because I have never understood why people cared about it. My research says that women are supposed to have 21 grams of fiber daily.

It seems really hard to get the fiber you need in food no. Here's what I'm eating.

4 oz plain yogurt, 0 grams fiber
4 oz fresh raspberries, 4 grams fiber
3 oz sliced banana, 2.2 grams of fiber
1 tbsp flax seed, one gram fiber

The whole mess contains 251 calories. All that for 7.2 grams of fiber. I am considering this my breakfast and my lunch combined.

What is your favorite or easiest way to get fiber into your diet? I am really looking for high-fiber alternatives, but I do not want them to be so high in calories. Even though that's not a horrible amount of calories, I don't know, I'm just used to eating food that has less than 200 calories per serving. And by the way this is a huge mess of food in my bowl.

I am now taking Metamucil everyday in order to get some fiber and to make sure I don't get constipated.

Also, any fiber additives you can share with me?

You can never go wrong with fruits, veggies, chicken and fish. I always think Whole Foods are the answer. Also find some protein drinks you like and stock up.
