    getting your protein

I've been eating Quest bars since I was able to try solid foods. It's an easy, on-the-go breakfast since I'd rather spend my early mornings getting in my work-out before darting out to work. My surgeon and dietician know I use them and neither have said they are "bad" and I shouldn't use them...

    please help Bethlyn70

Hello Bethlyn, I choose the sleeve because I felt like the recovery time and follow up visits were the least amount of hassle and it still gave me the tool I needed to lose weight. I still take vitamins because I don't absorb as well as I did before, but I can also eat whatever I want and not...

Interesting family development... My mother is freaking out about my weight loss

I'm sorry you're having the issues with your mom as well. My mom is fabulously supportive, as is my husband who married me when I was heavier and still told me I was beautiful when I got to the heaviest! My mom's mom, however, was more like your mom. She was totally unsupportive and...

Good for you! I went to a follow-up with my surgeon's office Friday. I had been losing and gaining the same 5 pounds for the past several months & was frustrated, but knew that not counting my calories was the reason why. I'm determined to get under the 200 mark, so I thought I'd do the 5 day...

How are you guys handling new clothes & sizing?

I agree with the others. Get rid of the clothes that are too big! It's a great feeling. I donated mine to Goodwill and have done what the others suggested and just went through racks of clothes there and tried on many different sizes. I should note that my mother talked me into this. She...

    Stuck

I agree with the others. Also make sure they're checking your vitamin levels. I was iron deficient and have been taking and iron supplement called Feosol with bifera. I know that low iron levels can make you feel tired too.

    Gallbladder Surgery Tomorrow

So sorry to hear about your experience! They checked my gallbladder when the surgeon did my weight loss surgery and it was fine. 1 year and 1 month later (Feb. 2014) I was having mine out too and well as having a hernia repaired. If it makes you feel any better, I feel soooo much better now...

    Knoxville Iowa

Hello, Yes, I had surgery Dec. 2012 in Des Moines. Dr. LaMasters rocks!!! BEST decision I ever made aside from marrying my husband! ;) I had the gastric sleeve. I chose this because there didn't seem to be as much required for follow up as some of the other methods. I had a natural holiday...

    Gall Stones

Yes!! Just had my gallbladder out two weeks ago! I had the ursodiol post surgery for as long as it was required. Since I had no problems, I was allowed to stop taking it. Honestly, my mom had her gallbladder out when I was in high school, so I just took it as something that would probably be...

    Frustrated with coworker

LauraLeigh, you were very brave to share your weight loss journey with your co-workers and hopefully, some will learn from the good example your setting. I did not share with anyone but my former secretary and only because she's also a friend. I didn't share because I know people can be...

    Gaining weight before surgery

It sounds like you're getting back on track Julianna! Good for you! It is stressful before surgery, but that food log and group support will be especially helpful after surgery. I know that with my sleeve, I can eat whatever I want....good or bad! Therefore, it's still up to me to make the...

    Feb 10th!

I don't recall any crazy dreams as a result of the liquid protein diet. I know that what I liked/thought tasted good in terms of liquid protein before surgery was MUCH different after surgery! I found many of them too sweet tasting. Everyone is different, so if you can go to a place like a...

    Family Support

I can't say it any better than the others who've posted here! :D The fact that you care enough to want to be supportive demonstrates a LOT!!

Getting closer to scheduling a surgery date

Hang in there Sue! It's normal to be nervous...this is a major life change! I remember feeling that I was definitely making the best decision for my health that I could, but that didn't stop me from an instant of panic and the thought of "what the H*ll am I doing" as they wheeled me into the...
