Qaterra, Thanks for the wonderful support. Actually my son told me about the age and weight thing on the treadmill. I told you am not a gym person by any means. I tried entering my weight and age yesterday, and amazingly the number of calories burnt almost doubled! yaaay! I went to the gym...

    had surgery 2 days ago

Gas-X chewable will help you greatly. I used it after I came back home and was suffering from gases. You can check with the nurse; I used to chew two tablets at a time to relieve the pain of gases. Good luck and hang in there. Everything will be all right

Glad to be home and have the surgery behind me

Gram, it happened to me several times. I know it's killing, but it's because we don't have much in our intestines. Things become a bit better with pureed food, so hang in there and enjoy the achievement :)

    Hello everybody

Due to frustration with scales, here's what I decided, and am not sure if am doing the right thing. I'll use my analog scale once a week to see how much I lost since last time on it. No digital scales any more. And for the accurate weight, I'll have to wait until I go to my surgeon's office in...

Hi everyone I am a newbie, question?

Hello Qaterra, My surgeon wants me to take betewwn 50 - 70 grams of protein every day. I use an application on my smart phone to log everything I eat or drink, and even exercise as I started going to the gym today. It analyzes the food I log, and does the math for me. After my dinner, if I...

I'm just back from the gym :-) Walked 1.15 miles on the treadmill for 26 minutes, at 2.9 mph speed and burned about 90 cal. Is that ok?

Wow! That was very good and detailed, Damon. Thank you so much. I'll share this with my surgeon when I see her in two weeks and will see what her feedback will be. My surgeon said I can start with walking on the treadmill, which is my favorite thing to do in the gym anyway. I've never been a...

    frustrated!!!

Hi cap, My surgeon told me I can crush the calcium citrate. I do this in my mini blender and then add it to my meal. As for protein: if you're on pureed food, try blending light tuna meat with a few drops of oil and one spoon of fat-free mayo. I also bake Tilapia fillet with some seasoning...

    Hello everybody

I was on liquid diet for 2 weeks prior to my surgery, and I lost about 15 pounds these 2 weeks. After the surgery, I was on clear liquid diet for almost 10 days. That was tough! Now am on puree food. Yes, soup, oatmeal, yogurt, cottage cheese, and pureed beef, fish, or chicken too. Beef didn't...

    Hello everybody

Hi Tom, I called my surgeon and she gave me the same advice: just walking on treadmill which I love anyway. I'll start this Friday. I'll do it three times a week until I feel ok to do it daily. I haven't tried any of the other equipment at the gym before. Guess I'll wait until I have the guts to...

Newbie here! 2 days post op.....

I'm recovering very well, I guess. Had some bad pain first week after the surgery, but nothing big ever since. I went back to work four days after coming back home. I don't feel the big change either. I'm eating pureed food now, and am ok with it. not really my style, but just hope it works...

Damon, welcome aboard. I think you're here for me :D since I was just wondering about when I should get started going to the gym. I had my gastric bypass three weeks ago, and I already got back to work less than a week after it because it was first week of the semester, and I couldn't miss it...
