So I had my first checkup 15 days out from my surgery. Dr was very happy with how I am doing. I went from 318 to 294. I'm doing pretty well with the pureed foods thanks to some great suggestions for bypassing pureed meats from others on here who've gone before me. However, I ran into another issue and am wondering if anyone else may have some insight. Not looking for medical advise just wanting to see if anyone else has had this issue and how it worked out for them.
On Monday I was in the ER because I had broken a bone in my foot, but that's not the real issue the doctors did some lab work and told me I had supper high uric acid and that I was also having an attack of Gout. This was so painful I couldn't walk, and the ER doctor told me it's because I am eating such high protein diet.
My surgeon said there is meds I can take but she is sending me to a kidney specialist because Gout has to do with how your kidneys work. She also said there is no way I could live on a low protein diet which is what most doctors tell patients with Gout.
So I have an appointment with an orthopedist and a Nephrologist coming up to dell with the broken bone in my foot and my gout issue.
Still good news I dropped 24 pounds....Yeah
