About eating after having surgery

The bariatric weight loss guide book states that there is a 30/30/30 rule.
Stop drinking 30 minutes before eating.
A meal should last no longer than 20-30 minutes
Begin drinking again 30 minutes after.

I find this very challenging because I like to wash down after a bite at times. And definitely after I finish eating. But I am told it can stretch the pouch. We don't want to have gone through the process of making it smaller just to stretch it out again. It's also an uncomfortable feeling. I hope this is informative for those who are eating as if they never had surgery. And those getting ready for the pureed food stage.
