Hi everyone! My name is Missy, and I just approved for my RNY this week. I meet with the surgeon on 12/21/12 for pre-op visit, so no date yet. My question for the group is how long did you need to be off before going back to work? I hear so many different things.

Welcome to the forum. From the posts I've seen here it takes from 2 to 5 weeks to return to work. The best thing to do is to request a little more time than you think you might need and if you feel up to going to work a little sooner then you can. It's more difficult to ask for more time than to return a little early. The biggest obstacle will be extreme tiredness. If you have the type of job that requires you to be physically and mentally alert 100% of the time then opt for the longer leave. Energy starts to return 2 to 3 months after surgery.
