I was told that I was never to take NSAIDS again, but I will double-check and make sure that I totally understand.

I wouldn't be shocked if you were told you couldn't again. There just doesn't seem to be a standard answer for many of these things, and people can be very adamant about their position on it. My clinic has received national awards for their standard of care. You'd think that would mean they know what there doing, but really, who knows.
