My weight has slowed since my surgery last July and it’s been challenging getting in enough protein and fluids each day. This passed week I’ve been making healthy smoothies and doing a different exercise routine and lost 3 pounds. This is the most I’ve lost in a week in approximately two months.
I don’t like the taste of premixed shakes, so I’m creating my own recipes.
Blueberry Protein Smoothie
Using a blender, mix the following ingredients.
3/4 c frozen blueberries
Dannon Lite & Fit Greek Yogurt (12 g protein)
3/4 c 1% milk (4 g protein)
1 c fresh spinach ( 1 g protein)
2 Medjool Dates
1 scoop unflavored protein powder (21 G protein)
This makes about 21 ounces and is delicious and nutritious. It has 38 grams of protein.
I have tried different kinds of protein powder and the one that I like the best is Unjury. I bought this at the hospital pharmacy where I had my surgery. This is unflavored without a chalky or gritty texture.
I buy Medjool dates at Aldi’s because they’re less expensive there.
