    Intro

Gigi, You can control how much you lose-- don't make a decision against bypass just because your brother lost too much weight. My doctor doesn't even do the lap band anymore. He says there's a 50% failure rate (that's equipment failure). He thought they might even be taking it off the market...

    Less than a week

Have you tried Gas-X strips or rolaids for the gas? Both really help me.

    Need Help

How about adding your favorite Crystal light flavor to a vanilla shake and see if that improves the taste?

i am getting the lap band in the next 3-4 wks.

SAMs carries Premier protein shakes and also EAS Carb Advantage. They are the cheapest I have found in the pre-packaged shakes. You can also buy a big container of powdered protein in WalMart. Other online sites have non-milk based protein like Isopure or Syntrax nectar. And Unjury has an...

    Just starting the process!!

Welcome to the forum! What a positive step you are making towards a healthier life! Have you decided on which procedure you are going to have? After 3 months, I am off my BP meds, cholesterol meds, oxygen at night, and I'm pretty sure the CPAP is on it's way out the door. Right now I weigh about...

    New day Still hurt

I know it seems overwhelming right now, but your job right now is to get your rest, exercise a little, hydrate, and attempt to get 60 gms of protein in. That's all you need to concentrate on for now. It will get more manageable as time goes on.

    Taking your lunch to work

I pack my lunch and breakfast the night before and only eat what I bring. I find it easier to decide for the day what I'm going to eat then stick to the plan. Today I brought protein-enriched oatmeal for breakfast and also had 2 cups of coffee. For lunch I had 2 oz of baked salmon, 2 oz of mixed...

New to group, 4 weeks post-op, weight loss slow

I too am a slow loser. I didn't lose anything the first 2 or 3 weeks (or rather, it took that long to get rid of all the fluid they pump into you in surgery). Now I'm losing about 2 pounds a week. But to me that's permanent weight loss, not dieting weight loss, and I seem to be losing another...

    Need Help

Welcome to the forum! I'm sorry you are having trouble with your protein, but like Ralph said, it is absolutely essential to get it in, and after 5 weeks you should be healed enough from surgery to tolerate more. You didn't say what surgery you had or what eating phase you are in. If you are...

I Guess I am Doing Good?

Looks like you are ahead of where your doctor said you should be, so you should be very proud. When you were gaining, you didn't gain every week, so you shouldn't expect to lose every week. As long as the scale continues on a downward path, you're doing great. People take a variety of vitamins...

    Insomnia?

I've noticed that digesting food seems to hamper my sleep patterns, so I try not to consume anything at least 4 hours before bedtime. This is new--never happened before WLS.

11 years out and they discovered i have a fistula from my bypass surgery.

I understand that Dr Stephen Boyce in Knoxville TN is well known for revision surgery. I'm not sure if he has done the particular surgery that you need.

    Hello! Surgery scheduled for 1/29/14

Gum is not recommended post-sleeve. If you swallow it it could get lodged in your tiny stomach opening.

It would help to have your approx location before recommending a surgeon.

    depressed and grossed out

Isn't it great that it takes 1/2 hour to eat an egg? Imagine all the calories you consumed in the past compared to now. Focus on spring and getting healthier every day. It will happen.

    Surgery TOMORROW!

I agree with gr8k8. Once you shed a few pounds you'll be dying to move around and do all the things you couldn't do before. Some kind of exercise will appeal to you. Lots of people walk, then run. I like to walk the dog and I also go to the gym. I won't be running since I have artificial knees...

    Hello! Surgery scheduled for 1/29/14

My surgeon had me on liquids for 4 weeks (broth, jello, protein drinks). At 3 weeks and a lot of begging, they let me have some applesauce, yogurt, and cottage cheese. I wasn't hungry, just bored. Welcome to the forum!

    Help lost my motivation

Congratulations for losing over 100 pounds in less than a year. What an accomplishment! Please keep your doctors appointment. Sometimes being held accountable helps with motivation. But I'm betting you won't hear any criticism from them. You've done great.
