    Clueless Newbie

Twill, you're doing great, keep it up. Getting in the protein and water comes with time, soon enough you'll wonder why you ever had a problem getting it in. Let us know how you're doing. Frank

    I think something got stuck....

I had my RNY in Oct 2012 and still don't really miss anything, foodwise. I do miss the freedom of not thinking about what to eat next, I would just eat whatever was convenient, now I have to plan everything out. Well worth the trade off. Frank

    getting frusterated

Two things for you CK, one how are your clothes fitting? Two are you getting in your protein? Let me say that I felt like you did after my RNY surgery, I didn't think anything was done, because I was able to get my liquids in without trying. It took several days before I started seeing...

New Here Looking into Gastric Sleeve Surgery in Memphis

I would start by googling Memphis and Gastric Sleeve and see what pops up. Then check on some of the different Doctors that come up and look for those with the best reviews. Good luck and let us know if we can be of any help. Frank

    Surgery on the 14th!

Hi Sadymichele, I wouldn't worry about your children, as regards to the surgery. Not knowing how big they are, there will be a restriction on lifting for the first four to six weeks, depending on the surgery you have and how quickly you heal. You will be in the hospital one to three days...

I hated riding exercise bikes in a gym

Ralph, I know what you mean. I just got back from a 5 mile run and in that run I went up a hill that I used to have to take a break three or four times before reaching the top. I did it without stopping, it is a great feeling. You're doing very well, keep it up. Frank

    Back from cruise

Must be nice not to have to work. ;) I went to Cancun after my surgery and lost 15 pounds. I followed my food plan and did lots of walking and snorkeling. It was great, best way to lose weight, while enjoying yourself. Have fun. Frank

Upcoming surgery, worried about work after..

I had weight restrictions for 4 weeks following surgery. I would not recommend doing your clinicals without disclosing your surgery. You are putting yourself and possibly others at risk, if something should happen. Like Gina and Cheyenne said, you could be held accountable and it may cost you...

    freaking out

Lookin4life, congrats on the surgery. Glad to hear the weight is coming off. Do me a favor and measure yourself the next time you step on the scale. The reason for this is that at some point soon, you will hit what looks like a stall. Normally once you start increasing your exercise load...

    Frustrated with myself

That's hardest part for me, being was willing to admit to others that I was eating things I shouldn't have. The thing is you can't hide it from you, so why try? Write down everything, even if you don't share it, at least you'll know what you've done and can begin working on it. The hardest...

    gastric sleeve

Your recovery time might be a bit slower, but the benefits are worth it. I had RNY at 55 and had no issues. Like the others said, a competent surgeon and good support staff and you'll be fine. Just remember to follow the plan and you'll be successful. If I can do it, anyone can. Frank

    Starting the process

Hi Valdis and welcome to the board. Doing your research is a very good idea. I had the RNY in Oct 2012 and am now down 185 lbs from my all time high. Up until a week ago, I had no problems at all, I felt very blessed. However last week I had severe abdominal pain and went to the ER. It...

    2 Weeks post R-N-Y

Stinkerbelle, I'm very impressed with your progress. You are going to be a long term success story, because you are making the right changes. It will not be easy and some of the things you've conquered now will come back at a later date. After my RNY, I had to force myself to eat, because I...

    Long time away.....

Mimi, congrats on the surgery. As for exercise, just do what you're doing and stop when you feel fatigued. Before you know it, you'll be covering a lot more distance and time. Your body is still healing so don't rush it, besides you have the rest of your life to exercise and thanks. Frank...
