I am just 2 years out. Have lost all my weight plus 20 lbs. I have had 14 EGDs in the last 18 months. Still having so much trouble eating. Anyone else having the same problems? How many EGDs can I have? My doctor thinks limitless. Should I get a second opinion? From another bariatric surgeon or a gastroenterologist? HELP!!!

Hi Debbie, Welcome. I am sorry for asking but what Is an EGD:confused:? I probably should know but I don't  Tom

EGD is a tube the put down your throat(you are asleep) to look at teh esophogus and into the stomach for lesions and ulcers adn strictures.

I don't know but I think I would ask for a consult with a good gastroenterologist. If they won't give you one I'd make my own appointment. I don't know anyone who has required so many EGD's. (esophogeal gastro duodenoscopy) <---- technical name ROFL.

Debbie-That's a ridicilious number of EGD's for anyone to have to go through. I would be looking for a more competent doctor who could figure out what is causing your problem with not being able to eat. You shouldn't have to go through all of this for so long so do yourself a big favor and find another bariatric doctor who will take over your care. Please let us know how you are doing.
