3 month update

Its been awhile since I posted. It will be 3 months on the 30th since I had my Gastric Bypass. I truly have not had any issues, other than a few tears at first. I'm much better emotionally now, and have lost 57 lbs. I feel so different when I fold my arms, or cross my legs. I am feeling like my old self when I was in my 20 and 30's. My hair is coming out some but I'm a hairdresser so I can hide things well. I'm increasing my protein now that I'm eating a little more food. That has been an issue for me because my tastes are so different now, I really can't stand milky shakes or eggs. Any kind of fish is still too dry for me to handle. I notice I have to do alot of dipping or gravy or something to moisten any meat. I've never had dumping, on occasion I have to throw up when I don't chew well, or I eat to fast. Overall, its the best thing I ever did for myself. I hope everyone has a good experience with WLS as I've had. I really have gotton along great!

Congratulations, GCooper! Your weight loss is coming along. I hope you are very proud of yourself.

Don't push yourself too much on the meats. Some people even six months out, and more, still don't do well with them. Everybody's different.

I am concerned, however. Are you getting enough protein? Syntrax makes an entire line of fruit flavors that aren't "milky" at all. You don't have to buy a big tub to check them out. They offer a set of samples for only $14. Check it out. You might like them. You can also get more protein by adding [any brand] unflavored protein to your meals. And there are always the protein "shots." And clear protein drinks like Isopure. You might even be able to make your own fruit (or other) flavors by making a shake with unflavored whey protein isolate, then adding your own flavors with Torani or DaVinci flavored, sugar-free syrups.

Let us know what you find that is more to your liking. Maybe you can even help someone else!

Keep on keepin' on. Looks like you're doing well.

Hi G Cooper. It is good to hear from you I am slad everything is going well, fish is one of the first meats I did good with. The throwing up from eating to fast is a form of dumping and you should get the same feeling and reaction when you try eating something that does not agree with you. Keep up the great work. Tom

So glad you have had so few problems. You don't have to use milky shakes to get that protein in. There are many options out there. I like things tart so I mix unflavored unjury with crystal light lemonade, or fruit punch flavors or sometimes use the strawberry sorbet with lemonade. This site has some protein fruit packets that are excellent that you mix with water. I use the peach mango right now. These two options mix very well.

GCCOOPER congratulations on your weight loss, did you know walmart sells a vitamin for skin, hair and nails and it truly works, been using it for a long time. I was fortunate that after the w/l surgery my hair didnt' fall out like it did from previous surgeries. I too love the feeling of knowing I can cross my legs again, we're on the road to becomming happy healthier people.
I know what you mean when it comes to meat some foods no longer taste good anymore. I did find out that tuna goes down ok with it has miracle whip on it or mayo whatever you like, but it's not the same since can't have celery or onion etc with it. I can't wait til I can have salad, and pickles and a few other foods.
wishing you continued success.
Donna
