I agree with everything that Cheyenne has mentioned above. Please complete your profile so we can see how you are doing, etc.
I am 1 year 3 months + post op.
Yes, my tastes have changed. This is common post op and forever. I still cannot eat any amounts of bacon (well maybe a nibble but not more) or pork (again a very small amount). But I can eat chicken, steak, lamb, but not a lot. 3 ounces still fills me up and leaves no room for anything else.
A breakfast now can be 2 eggs and an English muffin. However, this is a huge breakfast for me and I am stuffed.
OUr biggest challenge is to not eat too fast and not eat too much. I have had dumping syndrome a few times and I do try to avoid it. Sometimes it is simply the food being too rich that set me off or sometimes I simply ate too much.
You will also find that you have a lot of gas. I know I am burping as I begin to fill up. It is a fact of life with this surgery.
So, do not be discouraged. You need to retrain and eat slowly and not a lot at any one meal.
Yes, I have difficulty getting liquids down. So have a sippy cup and sip sip sip all day long.
I cannot have a breakfast with a cup of coffee; well I try and I am full. But , if I wait the designated 1/2 hour or so between liquids and the meal both before and after I do better.
I still come up dehydrated sometimes. So getting the liquids in be it water, milk, coffee, SCOTCH
, juices ( such as diet cranberry) or your protein shakes are all very important.
Best wishes,
Ralph
