Any Lapband members out there?

I am wondering if anybody out there had gastric lapband? I am 75 yo and had lapband surgery in Jan. 2012. I had been dieting for almost a year prior to
surgery and had lost 47 lbs. (started at 333 lbs). Since the surgery, I have lost 44 more lbs. for a total of 91 lbs. My goal is 200 lbs. which is 42 more to go.

I seem to be stuck - not losing anymore, eating too much. Any suggestions?

H.L.-Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your fantastik weight loss :) :) :) You said you are eating too much so you just might just need a fill in your band. You might try not eating hardly any carbs and increasing your proteins (lean). You may just be in a plateau right now. Another suggestion is to make an appointment with your bariatric nutritionist. Write down everything you are eating and take that with you when you meet the nutritionist.

Hi HL, Welcome. Congratulations on your weight loss your doing great! Ditto on what Pat said. Log what you eat and share it with your nutritionist to see if you need to make adjustments to your meal plan. You may just need a fill too. Tom

Hi HL,

I am in NW Florida and had my Lapband placed in March. Have lost 47 pounds so far and have about 60 more to go.

I just had another fill last Wednesday and that seems to help. I also do a simple strategy after every fill and when I am slowing down down on wt loss. I do two days of clear liquids, two days of full liquids, and then two days of soft. It really seems to help. My clear liquids include at least two protein shakes (so it's not all completely clear).

The fills really do help. After a fill the two two and two is required but I find it helps get me back on track in between. (I think it is a modified pouch test).

Keeping a food journal is very helpful and then you have something to discuss with your dietician/nutritionist.

I know each procedure has slightly different requirements and each one loses at a different rate. Don't get discouraged because we all experience plateaus. I think for me it is also a matter of being honest with myself and renewing my commitment to the rules I was given after surgery (known as quit cheating, LOL). It is so easy to get off track.

Keep in touch, this is an excellent Forum with helpful hints for everyone. Good luck as you continue on your journey!

Dear H.L. I'm not having the band, but I wanted to welcome you to the forum and congratulations on your weight loss! You must be doing something right, so as they say "keep doing what you're doing and you'll keep getting what you're getting"!
