Artificial sweetners

I am 2 weeks out from my surgery and I am having a difficult time with the artificial sweetners (mainly the taste), before my surgery I used Truvia but I'm not sure now after my surgery if I will be able to tolerate it. Has anyone tried Truvia and if so did you have any problems? Also is there any sugarfree gums that are acceptable? I am an ex-smoker and have used gum in the past to help with the urge especially after meals. Thank you in advance for your help and suggestions..

Sugar free gums and candies use sweet alcohols that processed the same as sugar in the liver with the same calories so there is no real benefit weight wise. I think everyone's taste bud go through some changes after surgery, most are temporary but some you never know. I've always used equal and have had no issues. Congratulations on your surgery and weight loss so far.

Cheers

Splenda is the only one that works for me. The rest make me sick to my stomach after awhile. I have been using that MiO water enhancer and gosh darn....Those are soooo good. I even got the rest of my household using the MiO instead of Kool-Aid and thats a huge step for this household!

Any type of gum is a no-no after surgery. If it is accidentally swallowed it can sit in your pouch forevery.

Have you tried sugar free mints instead of gum? I found it under suggestions on the paperwork the dr gave me. It list gum and straws as no no items. It is funny I don't miss the sugar foods yet but I miss drinking ice cold drinks from a straw and I was a big gum chewer. This to shall pass

Good luck

thank you everyone for your help. I have not tried any sugarfree mints but I think as the days go by I am getting better not thinking about it.
