Feeling great, thanks.
I do have more energy. I used to get the closest parking place and sometimes wouldn't go somewhere if I thought I would have to walk very far. Now I park farther away and don't mind the walk. I don't get out of breath like I used to. I also take the two flights of stairs at work at my second job where I used to ride the elevator. I would actually plan my trips upstairs or to the basement at the house so I wouldn't have to walk up the stairs, but I don't even think about it now.
I am feeling really good. I actually have a lap for my 13 month old granddaughter to sit on and I can get down in the floor and play with her. It is a lot of fun. I used to dread going to the mall with my daughter and she loves to shop, but now it is fun again. My husband is a great guy! He loved me through the heavy years and I know he is going to continue loving the changes too.
I'm only on Metformin once a day now (750) where I had been taking 1000 twice a day, 1 Actos 15 a day, Prandin 3X a day, and Byetta injections twice a day. This morning my blood sugar was on the low side at 79. It has been in the 90's for the last few weeks, so it has really improved. I used to run about 160 or higher in the mornings.
When I was in the hospital, pretty much everything they gave me were sweet drinks or jello which kind of nauseated me, so I mostly drank water. My surgeon came in the second day and told me that I had to get down 64 oz. of fluids before he would release me. I thought he was kind of crazy since I could only sip a little at a time. I'm not sure if he was just trying to motivate me or what, but I went home without accomplishing that. I was in the hospital two nights. I only had one incision that bothered me after a few days so I took the pain medicine for a couple of weeks or so for that. Otherwise, I didn't have any problems. I was ready to have something different to eat by the 3rd week when I started soft foods. From Day 1 through 5 it was clear liquids, then days 5-27 it was full liquids, then soft diet. I started the general diet two months after surgery. Is that what they will have you do? I hope you have a dietician and physical therapist you are working with along with the surgeon. I had a great program.
I hope everything goes well for you!
