Calcium Citrate

I purchased the calcium chews at local health food store. The name escapes me right now. I have to take extra due to high levels of my parathyroid. So I take 1,200 calcium and 800 D3. They were perfect giving me the right amounts of what I needed in just 2 chews. I take extra d3 in drop form. Well I have been sick for 2 days. I have heard about chews here and how easy they are to take. I should have read the label a little closer. Not only did they have sugar in them, but all the artifical ingretients hit me just hours after taking them. I had to leave work yesterday and was hard pressed to get much down. Now part of this is that I have meniere's disease and have to follow a special food plan in addition to my food plan from surgery. I looked at the chews from Bariatric advantage and I see that they are sugar free, but does not give the other ingredients. Does anyone here take them and how do you do with them? Right now I am spliting the pills twice and they are still not that easy to get down. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks James. It's a no go. I guess I will have to continue to cut up the pills. Yuck. If anyone has any other options, please let me know.

Kim-I switched over to the calcium citrate pills because of the high cost of the chews. I just break mine in half and chew them up. Other than being a bit chalky they are almost tasteless. I read a few posts a while back about using a pill crusher then mixing it up with some sugar free drink mix powder in its dry form. I'm going to buy a pill crusher and try this in an attempt to make myself a calcium citrate "pixie stick" *LOL* OMG-I'm showing my age again :) :) :)

Donna-*LOL* I always say "why pay for something when you can make it yourself for less" *LOL*. I'm happy to pass along ideas I come across and any recipes that are bariatric friendly. I made a lasagna yesterday with Dreamfields pasta, extra lean ground turkey and lean beef. I used a can of spaghetti sauce and a quart of my home canned tomatos along with cottage cheese mixed with eggs and grated parmesan cheese (the dry kind). It came out wonderful but I can only eat about a 1/2 cup serving. I only ate one tiny piece of noodle and all the meat, cheese and sauce because I was too full. My beagle, Molly, loved what was left on my plate *LOL*. I ended up cutting the rest into small pieces, wrapping each in foil, put them in freezer bags and stuck them in the freezer this morning.
