Hello out there!!! I am brand new on here and I am getting closer to a surgery date and still jumping through insurance hoops!!! I am needing contact with at least 10 people for insurance compliance. I have a few questions that I would like some people to answer for me......
1. Do you regret having surgery?
2. Do you wish you had chosen a different surgery?
3. Did you have any adverse reactions or complications?
4. How has your weight loss been since surgery?
5. Do you have a problem with feeling deprived of anything?
Thanks to everyone that will respond!!!! Melinda

There are volumes of testimony and wisdom in past threads from days gone by, use the search feature for each individual forum to drill down to get the information you seek. The past is the best source there is and dose not limit you to just the current attentive users. The fun has just begun.

Welcome to the forum.
No regrets on having the surgery only wish I had done it sooner, but I guess you are ready when you are ready.
I had the sleeve and am very happy with the choice. I had considered RNY about 10 years ago, but I guess was not ready for the commitment. Felt more comfortable with the sleeve because it was only restrictive and I absorb all I eat.
No adverse problems as a result of surgery.
Weight loss has been slow and steady. I am almost 15 months post op and lost 129 pounds. That's a whole normal size person.
I really don't feel deprived. At times I miss Italian food, which I could probably modify, but don't like to spend my time in the kitchen. There is just too much else to do now.
Wishing you well in your choice of surgery. It is a wild ride. I wouldn't change a thing. Hope you come back often and keep us updated on your progress.

Had my surgery done 2 weeks ago. I was declined by insurance 3 years ago, applied again this year and was approved. This time I wrote a letter to the insurance company and included photos of myself. Not sure if that did the trick, but here I am 2 weeks out. I feel great. No complications. No regrets. I still feel the RNY was the best option for me. All hunger cravings seem to have disappeared. I have lost a quick 30 lbs (not sure if that's typical). I have a G-tube sticking out of my old gut for the next 4 weeks, and I'm sure I'll feel better once that is removed.

Good Luck,

Mike
