Hi, I am new here and just starting (again) to research the available options. When I looked into it about 5 years ago I thought the sleeve option would be my best choice. I would appreciate feedback from those of you who have had that particular surgery, and also the other types as well. I will be attending a seminar tomorrow but thought some personal testimonials would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Hi Jeannie I had the bariatric rny is what it's sometimes called. I had it 9-2012 and it has brought me much happiness and more than 62 pounds are gone, yeah........... it's a great tool for helping to get your body healthy and to regain good health and confidence and energy that I lost along the way. The surgery also allowed me to be taken off high blood pressure med. high cholesterol med, and off insulin. There are a lot of great stories to read on here of others whom have found success, I wish I would have had it done years ago and not waiting til I was 56 to have it done. I would do it all over again if I had to. I hope you go to meetings and meet people in person whom have had the surgery and come back this site has a lot to offer and I've met some wonderful people on here and they all want to help each other out as we each go through this journey to becoming the healthy people we want to be.
good luck

Hello! I am new here too. I had the sleeve on December 18, 2012. I did not want to have to get fills or worry about slippage of the band. I wanted to not have to go in for some other procedures but be able to focus on getting on with my life post-surgery. Best thing I have ever done for myself! I am still learning things everyday but I have had little to no pain, and have very few issues eating. If I had to do it all over again I would go for the sleeve again. Good luck with your decision! Hi Laurie and Jeannie! I just had my RNY on Jan. 28th, so I can't speak to personal experience with the sleeve. I just wanted to say, "Welcome!"

I am 8 months post op VSG. Very happy I choose the sleeve. My only problem has been with constipation. I went to gasto doc and he said I developed IBS from the surgery. He precribed probiotics and murilax to get things moving. They have worked. I am going for colonoscopy on Thurs just to make sure there are no other issues. This would have nothing to do with the surgery. Should have had one at 50, but I didn't. I have not lost weight as quickly as some who have had bypass, but for me this is not a race. It is a tool for a life long journey. Do your research and talk with your surgeon. Then be still and make the decsion that is right for you. Wishing you all the best.
