Hello,
I am new to the forum today. I am finishing up all the steps to having my surgery approved. Now if I can just lose the 12 lbs. I am hoping to be having surgery mid- July.

Hi, and welcome to the boards. It is a wonderful place to get support and information. It's so nice to have someone at every stage of the process to help you out and answer questions if you have them and to encourage you when you're feeling down or worried. Good luck with your 12 lbs. You can do it! I'm in the process of losing a few pounds for my surgery also. My nutritionist didn't give me a specific diet, she said to use whatever works for me, so I'm substituting 2 meals a day with the protein shakes we'll be drinking post-op and having a low carb meal for my one meal a day. So far, it's working well for me. You will do great. Good luck and keep us posted.

Hi and welcome

I am on a pre-surgery diet much like what you have described. I have two protein shakes, three servings of fruit, three oz of lean meat and unlimited non/low carb vegetables a day. It is difficult but the weight is coming off. Good luck with the 12 pounds. Just don't forget to mix in some exercise into the plan.

Best wishes

Hi Kstreet and welcome to a great board. The advice given above is very good. Just stay focused on your goal and you will succeed.

Third day with no candy

Thanks everyone for the encouragement. The last 2 and a half days have been good. I have not had any candy which is a MAJOR accomplishment for me. And exercise all three days.

I have been busy reading the workbook OHSU gave me and The Emotional First Aid Kit: A Practical Guide to Life-After Bariatric Surgery. It has some good tips.
