hi hi BAB, nice to see you. The premier protein shakes have 30g of protein in them so you can add that up with your protein water and there's 50 g. I was told I needed to get between 50 and 70 grams and that that was the standard for women. I am now Hearing in this group from you and others that SOME doctors are requiring much higher amounts of protein. This has been a real mystery to me and the little bit I've been able to find by going to universities and Medical Center's website is that sometimes the protein requirement is based on the BMI.
You need to find out what form of protein you like and will eat enough of and then use that as your springboard to your new life. I'm working on a resource right now and it's kind of a mess but it has a lot of information and a lot of numbers where you can find out how many grams of protein is in a certain food:
THE GOSPEL OF BARIATRICS The organization for bariatric surgeons and patients: https://asmbs.org/ USDA FOOD AND NUTITION GUIDE The official government resource for nutritional information in food: https://www.usda.gov/topics/food-and-nutrition...
www.americanbariatrics.org
make your first meal of the day a high protein meal. Have two eggs and Magic milk and that will be 30 grams of protein. Eat some high protein yogurt and get 16 g of protein. I can't remember the amount of cottage cheese but that is an enormous amount of protein for one serving. Or if you are not opposed to eating meat for breakfast, have 5 oz of baked turkey breast and that's 35 to 36 grams of protein. A can of tuna high in protein. Here, I put a list below:
Food | Serving size | Protein grams |
---|
bacon | 1 ounce | 9 |
beef (ground, lean) | 3 ounces | 21 |
chicken breast (cooked) | 3 ounces | 26 |
cod (Atlantic) | 3 ounces | 19 |
haddock (smoked) | 3 ounces | 21 |
ham (meat only, roasted) | 3 ounces | 21 |
hot dog (beef) | 1 each | 7 |
pork (ground) | 3 ounces | 22 |
salmon (Atlantic) | 3 ounces | 22 |
sausage link (pork or beef) | 1 link | 9 |
shrimp (fresh) | 3 ounces | 12 |
tuna (canned, light) | 3 ounces | 17 |
turkey (light meat) | 3 ounces | 25 |
turkey (ground) | 3 ounces | 23 |
I'm having a computer moment probably cuz it's 1 in the morning but that is just an example using Meats. You can see that you can get a lot of protein in a small portion of meats that are high in protein, like turkey. Turkey was definitely my go-to.
Don't worry about calories. This is not about calories. This is about getting enough protein to improve your entire existence and the strength of your body to do more work and exercise and burn calories. Make sure you drink at least 64 oz of water a day. Other fluids are fine but get that water in because the water has a chemical purpose that causes weight loss that is far more rapid then if you just drinking protein shakes are protein drinks all the time.
but if you get that 64 oz of water but if you get that 64 oz of water in every day, you will still get plenty of fluid from the food you eat and you won't be dehydrated and you will really see a difference and what happens with your body. I also would not sweats not reaching your protein goal set by your nutritionist. We may have Howard he had this conversation. I believe if anybody tells you you need to get that much protein in a day and you can't oh, you need to tell them that. They need to offer you alternatives or allow you to take less protein in. Avoid fat, avoid carbohydrates like crazy, drink water and make protein the largest part of each of your meals. Try to get excited about going for a walk. Drink water while you're walking. The weight will come off and your muscles will not waste because you will not be drawing energy from your muscles but you will be taking that energy in the form of calories from the stores of fat in your body.
Sorry I can't deal with this computer anymore and I can't take the time to edit this post. I just wanted to make sure you knew someone was listening and I wanted to offer you some suggestions.
