Had my EGD today....

Hi all,

I have been having ongoing stomach / pouch pain with eating, between eating, some spasms, some feelings of irritation and the sensation of fullness while sleeping, to the point of making me wake up so my surgeon sent me for an EGD this morning..

My GI specialist found I have some definite irritation and swelling of my esophagus and pouch that explains what I am experiencing.. Now the question is who, what and why.
He did take some biopsies as well... I am still on Carafate, no beef allowed at the moment and eating solids as tolerated.

I was relieved to know that my pouch has not stretched out, no strictures, no other anomalies and healed well with the exception of the of the inflammation and irritation, hence the biopsy...

SO we will have the results within 10 days, hopefully. This is freaking me out just a tad after I was told about the potential esophageal cancer due to all of the scarring and abnormal tissue due to reflux and aspiration from my esophageal birth defect...

So sorry you are having stomach problems, Stinkerbelle. I hope your test results will all be good!

Sorry to hear that you are having problems. Hope all will turn out well. I will keep you in prayer. I go tomorrow to the gastrointerologist for an appt. Then they will probably have me come back in for an upper gi. My stomach has been burning so I will have to have an upper gi to check and see if I am forming ulcers. Keep us posted on your results.

Sorry to here of your trouble. Hope the results are minor. Try to stay positive stress can be hard to deal with.

I had an ulcer and that was treated with medication. The gastro doctor did the scope. I have not seen a Bypass doctor for a few years, the doctor who operated on me moved and there were three or four other doctors that came and left the practice. I am going to try to touch base with the office after the holiday and see what they have to say. You sound like you are doing every thing that you are told, so I will say a prayer that test results are good. This is my first time on the site, and hope we can all help each othere out.
