Having Gastric Bypass on 03/17. Need Vitamin Advice.

Welcome! I chose to go with Celebrate Vitamins when I had my surgery because I found those vitamins to be easy to take post surgery. But the don't come cheap. The biggest thing you need to watch for is not having huge pills to swallow in those early months. Celebrate has lots of chewables and soft chews that make it easy. But I am sure there are less expensive options if cost is a factor in choosing.

Good luck on your journey!

I started with Wal-Mart brand chewable children's multivitamin (their version of Flinstones) on week 2. My Calcium Citrate plus D3 was & is Kroger's brand, as are all of my vitamins & supplements that aren't otherwise prescription only (iron 325 every other day & weekly D2). Good luck.

My program said take "this" and I did. Now they've changed to Bariatric Fusion, since the old brand got rid of the calcium and iron in the chewable so that you'd have to buy them separately. I do take 4 day, which I was told I would have to do forever and that you can only absorb so much at a time, which is why 4 daily. I buy them on the Bariatric Fusion website, 6-12 months at a time, usually during a sale. So, I end up paying around $20 per bottle. My husband just had the sleeve and needs 2 per day so I'll be buying more often.

Ask your nutritionist or surgeon if they have a preferred brand AND WHY. If it seems like they have valid reasons, use what they tell you.

I also use the celebrate vitamins. However, I would suggest maybe ordering samples instead of bottles of vitamins. I pre-ordered an ass load of the celebrate vitamins. I ordered a chewable multivitamin - huge mistake. I couldn’t stand the taste of the chalky chewable multivitamin. I ended up having to take the capsules - nothing to chew just swallow.

Your taste can be affected by the surgery. All of the shakes I was used to drinking tasted like thick syrupy extremely sweet NASTY! The same can happen with vitamins too. If you’re in a WLS clinic that offers samples - take the samples and see if you can tolerate the taste after surgery. Good luck!
