Hi everyone, my name is Stacy and I just had my RNY on Feb 8th. Today was my first full day at home. I am still struggling with the pain and getting all of my liquids in, but I am excited for this journey and where it will lead me.

Welcome, Stacy! My surgery was two weeks ago, so it is still fresh in my mind. The first week is the hardest (at least for me). Take your medication on a scheduled basis, do not wait for the pain to get bad to take them. If they are not helping, you need to notify your doctor's office. Fluids are the most important thing of all. My surgeon told me to only worry about fluids until I saw him again, that if I could get any protein in, that was fine, but fluids are your first priority. You are a brand new post-op so try not to get dehydrated. Rest as much as you can between periods of getting up and moving around. I promise, things get better everyday. At 2 weeks out, I still am not up to goal with protein and fluids, but I am getting closer. Congratulations on the start of your new life!

Welcome to the forum. Good luck as you continue on this journey. Those fluids are very important and it does get easier as time passes. Try not to let that pain get ahead of you, take your med when it is a little bit of pain to prevent it from getting worse. Walking helps too. Keep us posted on your progress and feel free to ask questions as there are lots of knowlegeable people here who have gone before us. Joy
