Hi! My name is Liz and I'm going to be getting gastric sleeve surgery at the end of August!
I'm currently and Occupational Therapy student at Ithaca College and I'll be graduating in May. I'm looking forward to learning about other peoples' journeys and getting advice from those who have done this already :) I'd love to hear any advice you may have for me in the coming months before my surgery!

A little more about me: I love music! I'll see pretty much anything live, but I particularly enjoy Americana, Bluegrass and Jam bands. I really like food and cooking, so I'm looking forward to learning how to cook some really delicious healthy foods. I like being outside, but I've been reluctant to do activities like hiking or biking because of how fatigued I get, so it'll be great to get to enjoy some of those activities more. I love dogs, meeting new people, and crafting. Please feel free to introduce yourself!

Hey Liz! Welcome to the group and congrats on scheduling! I had my sleeve on May 19 so I'm just over a month out. My heaviest at my first appointment was was 201. I was 187 my final weigh in before surgery. I am currently 163! I'm thrilled to have lost almost 25lbs in only a month. It's crazy! Don't get me wrong, it has been a very tough month. But, now that I'm fully out of the liquid only phase and into the pureed and soft foods phase, I'm a much happier person lol! I still do shakes. I enjoy trying different ingredients to change them up. If you have any questions feel free to ask!

Welcome Liz,
You won't be sorry you decided to do this. My highest was 270, and I am down 104 pounds, have never felt this good in my life, good luck on your journey

Thank you! I'm currently 318, but I was 332 when I started in the program and I'm already starting to feel better and get compliments. I cannot wait to keep going! I'm so happy that I found this forum - everyone is so nice and supportive!

Hi Liz! Good to meet you! I'm happy to hear that you're well on your way to a new and improved healthy lifestyle ahead! It's wonderful to finally join a community of like-minded people on this site who care and want to offer their experience on their personal journey's on Life after WLS. I had RNY Gastric Bypass since the sleeve was not perfected nor offered at the time I decided to have surgery. This precious tool you'll be given will teach you how, when, and why to eat. The results are tremendous if you do your part and follow the instructions given to you by your surgeon and their team. You cannot fail, unless you're not determined, committed, and truly want to change your lifestyle for the better. You'll have a new life ahead filled with activity, energy, and life! I will never regret the decision I've made to change my life and it's been six years out and I'm still going strong! Be well and you'll do great!
