Hello Dick, welcome to the club. I too couldn't tie my shoes or walk very long without puffing like a train. One word of caution, if you think this an easy way to lose weight, forget it. This is hard, but the results from sticking to your plan, getting your exercise is much more dramatic. For me it was a chance to reboot my body. I don't eat many of the things I used to, because I know that they are triggers for me to binge and that is a road I don't want to go down again.
Follow the advise of your team, and the pounds will come off. There will be days that you'll wonder what the hell you did to yourself. We've all been there, done that. When you feel like that, reach out here and to your own support network, that's what we're here for. This is the best thing I've ever done and yes I can now bend over and tie my shoes.
