Hi my name is Dick

Hi my name is Dick, I have been over weight most of my adult life.
I am tired of not being able to tie my shoes and get off the coach.
So needless to say I need help. I hope this surgery will help me out.

Hi Dick,

Welcome to the forum and welcome to getting healthy. Follow your program as outlined by your bariatric center and you will proceed on this journey. Good luck and remember there are many here who have already been through it and they are a wealth of information. If you have any questions, want to vent, or just want to chat the forum is a good place to do it. Joy

You know thats funny you said that, it reminded me of last night. I was sitting at my daughters and without thinking put my legs up so I was sitting in a indian position. And I realized in a minute or so what I was doing. So, I said Kris look I can sit like this. I can not remember when I sat like that. No problem no pain. I could not bend over to tie my shoes either. I often sat down or put my foot on furniture for support. This to me is a miracle. To some people in the non surgery world its a everyday thing. To me it was fantastic. You go and get your surgery & tie your shoes & come sit indian style with me and we can talk about all we now can do. lol Its the best thing I ever did in my life. And it will be yours too. Keep me posted.

Hello Dick, welcome to the club. I too couldn't tie my shoes or walk very long without puffing like a train. One word of caution, if you think this an easy way to lose weight, forget it. This is hard, but the results from sticking to your plan, getting your exercise is much more dramatic. For me it was a chance to reboot my body. I don't eat many of the things I used to, because I know that they are triggers for me to binge and that is a road I don't want to go down again.

Follow the advise of your team, and the pounds will come off. There will be days that you'll wonder what the hell you did to yourself. We've all been there, done that. When you feel like that, reach out here and to your own support network, that's what we're here for. This is the best thing I've ever done and yes I can now bend over and tie my shoes. Good luck and keep us informed.
