I am new to this site :)

Hello there :D, I am new to this wonderful site.

I attended seminar 2 months ago and my first appointment is 6 days. I am really nervous because i really want to be approved for surgery.
I have a question for you all. How long after your first appointment till surgery?

Hi welcome to the site. You have landed in a good place.
I started the journey at the beginning of May, and have just now finished all my requirements. It will probably be after Jan 1 before I have surgery, but it's for reasons beyond my control.

Welcome Damienlexington! I attended my first session on April 24th and met my surgeon on July 26th. I meet with him again on the 26th of October and we will (hopefully) discuss a surgery date then. We are shooting for the
end of November.

Welcome, Damien,

From what everybody says, it all depends on your insurance carrier and their requirements. What does your insurance company have to say about timing?

Damienlexington-Hello and welcome to the forum. I could have had my surgery 4 weeks after my consult with the surgeon but I put it off for another month due to another family member needing to be hospitalized. You really can't base your timing on someone else's timing. It all depends on how quickly you cam schedule and complete your testing, if there is an extended pre-op diet you must follow (some are 6 months and some as short as 1 week) and how far back your surgron is backed up for surgeries. In any event, the time will pass quicker than you think.

Make sure to come back to the forum to let us know how things are going for you. This is a great forum that has a lot of wonderful members and is friendly and non-judgemental. You will find a lot of help here and you will also be able to help others.

Hi Damien, Welcome. I think it was 3 months after my first consult with the bariatric team, it took time to do all the tests and evals and go to some support group meetings. It all depends on your insurance company requirements. Let us know what you fing out. Tom
