I am following the VLCD with 6 packets of food daily. I have two weeks under my belt and have lost 11 pounds. Two years ago, I lost 50 lbs and since then gained it back due to my own lack of interest in giving the proper effort to maintain. I am anxious to re-lose the weight and a more! I feel so much better when I am following the meal plan.

Hi,
I was turned down for the surgery but instead am doing the VLCD (very low calorie diet). I purchase the supplements sold on bariatric sites. I only eat the supplements. I love how I feel when I stick to it....no cravings! Sticking to it makes we want to exercise, so this is a bonus!

vlcd

I was on a vlcd diet I guess when I did my pre-diet for the surgery. I was on 800 calories a day. I was fearful that I couldn't do it but thought I've ot to... and I did.. It was only for 2 weeks but I did feel great at the time. I've thought about doing that for a short time to really get me back on track.. then I woke up today and the scale is moving in the right direction with mindful eatting.. This is a daily struggle. I do not have the support I need at home. My husband and daughter are obese and not into losing the weight or doing what it takes to lose the weight... so it's a lonely journey. I think they try to support me.. I just wish they'd comealong on the journey with me. Good luck to you as you go through this.. You can do it, I know you can!

surgery

Hi,
When was your surgery? My 12 year old daughter is trying the VLCD....I got her to commit to two weeks. She doesn't like most of the food, so I was able to come up with just the right items and balance that she can live with. She has oatmeal or a scrambled egg with a table spoon of nutrional yeast in the morning, a bar for mid morning snack, a pancake with a thin layer of non fat cream cheese along with some cucumbers, afternoon snack is either a shake...turned into hot chocolate....i mix it with 4 oz of water in the bullet and then add boiling water and it is great or turkey jerkey, for dinner her favorite is vegetarian joe over lettuce with a touch of low fat sour cream and in evening she has another "hot chocolate". We only have a few days under our belt, but she is doing really great. I will keep getting creative so she doesn't just get sick of it....hopefully. I showed her a can of crisco and how it was 3lbs of fat,so when she sees 3 lbs less on the scale she can see what a big deal that is. My husband is drinking three protein shakes a day and then having anything for dinner and the fact that he is just eating more than once a day has helped his metabolism....he had totally killed it and was gaining weight from his one meal a day. It does help having more people in the house interested. I was on this for a couple weeks before they became at all interested, but we both know, it has to be their decision. You have to get in the right mind set. What are you doing exercise wise. last time I did this, I simply walked 3 to 4 times a week...3 miles in an hour...and it worked great. I need to find a time of day where I can do that again. I wish you tons of luck and please keep writing!

intro

My surgery was Dec. 2008.. so three years ago next month. We had a great place to work out when I had the surgery.. then we moved 2 years ago and I don't have access to a pool which I love to swim and do water aerobics..(too expensive here for membership and the places aren't as nice either) anyway I do go to Curves.. haven't been going regularly.. so I made a new committment to myself to at least exercie 3 days a week.. then I plan to bump it up.. I pay for a membership for mydaughter and she keeps saying she'll go then she is too tired. I tell her it will boost her mood and energy.. so today she says she wil try to go tomorrow ..if she doesn't go with me I'd rather go in the early morning.. well we took part in a survey this weekend and thru that I realized that I am lax in allowing her to eat junk food. I prepare healthy meals.. but it's all the other eatting.. I know that exercise will be key to getting the weight of and maintaining that loss. I am so happy for you that your family is onboard and conscious of what they are eatting now. I'm praying that mine come onboard.. to the losers bench.. My husband goes into starvation mode when he diets because he eats very little.. I'msure his metabolism is wrecked. He lost 25lbs. recently so I'm hopinghe's ready to go at this again for another 25.. I hope that your daughter gets her excess weight off.. I know how it has affected my daughter- she is in 10th grade and has lost friends because they considered her a liability with the boys.. because she is obese! They actually told her this!!! Where I had the surgery was great- great support system there- they have meetings once a month with patients, nurses, nutritionist, docs, pyschologist... planned meetings and time to just share and meet and greet one on one- I really miss that. I haven't found that here.. some very nice people but no support group. I did go to WW recently but did not lose weight for 2 weeks so I quit..maybe my metabolism is shot too.. am going to keep up the fight.. I did go to Curves today..one day at a time. Keep me posted on your progress and I'll do the same.
