Itching

Hi all!!! I am 5 days post op and I know I am suffering from a reaction to the tape around my incisions. My problem is that I have a rash over most of the rest of my abdomen. Is this normal? It is bad enough that the incisions itch but my whole stomach?

About that rash . . . please call your surgeon/support team and ask about the rashes and itching. This might be nothing. But it Could be Something.

CALL NOW.

Don't wait until tomorrow, which is a holiday and they probably won't have regular hours anyway.

KEEP CALLING until you get to speak with someone.

A rash is not normal and you should call a medical professional about it. I am allergic to tape, even the type for sensitive skin and I always take it off as soon as possible. I still end up with redness wherever the tape was touching plus a slightly larger area adjacent to where the tape was. The rash never spread the way you are describing. I'm just saying you mght need some sort of prescription ointment or even a short term stearoid if it's an allergic reaction or something else. In the meantime take a couple of benedryl (break in half) or better yet some liquid benedryl which won't hurt anything. Just make sure to follow up with a doctor ASAP.

Hi Scrapwithash, please call your doctor to make sure you incision is not infected, it is more than likely your skin is very sensative but it is better to be safe right now. Let us know how you are doing. Tom
