Hi all,

Looking for some support. Had my sugery 2/13/13, weighed 304 lbs, current weight 275 lbs. I am eating puree, and soft foods, and protein shakes. I am nauseous, when I smell food is this normal

Hi Jewel, I had the RNY back in October and feeling nauseous when smelling food is not out of the ordinary. Many people have reported that. It does go away as time goes by. There will be some foods that will trigger such a reaction, for me it's protein shakes that I can't stand smelling.

Congrats on your weight loss so far, you are doing great.

I won't think its all that uncommon. Six weeks out and I still get nauseous after eating and puke sixty to seventy percent of the time. I understand it is a passing thing but it seem to take its time in passing.

It did not happen to me, but it does not sound serious. I think your diet is so bland at this point that it is possible. Dcepello vomiting so much sounds a bit extreme. Are you eating to fast, or to much? I think I have only vomited 2x since my surgery. Once in the very beginning when i could not tolerate the sweetness of the chewable vitamins. Also a few weeks ago when I ate too fast. I know you didn't ask, but it just concerned me a little.

You might be withdrawing from the anestesia you were given during surgery, and that takes a while to leave your body. That can also be the cause of your smell sensitivity and that nausea feeling. I remember having an odor on myself for quite some time and it was the anestisia leaving my body. It takes some time to completely get out of your system.
